As I have said before, I am Pagan, but for a while, with school, I had to sort of take a step back from my practice. As school slowed down, and now that I am finally graduated and actually moved into my new apartment, I have finally been able to focus on it once again.
Wrapping up my school year, I began reading Mary Oliver and Jarod K. Anderson. Both talk so much about our connection has humans to nature and not only observing nature, but being a part of it as well. My practice and the content I was reading at the time really made me think about how I am a part of nature and nurtured by Gaia.
Though I am Pagan now, I was raised Lutheran and have studied biblical texts both religiously and as literature. Despite being Pagan now, I have always loved “From dust you came to dust you shall return” spoken on Ash Wednesday. Whether it’s literal ash or stardust created during the Big Bang, I do believe we all return back to where we came.
I like to think that since Mother Nature or Gaia has spent my entire life nurturing me, when I die, I am returned to her and I get to nurture her. I’d love to be absorbed back into nature and used as nutrients for all the plants and animals that allowed me to exist for all these years.
Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed, please leave a comment letting me know your thoughts or share with your friends!
the great teacher
instead of a satin pillow
find me a bed of moss
to lay my head on
so that Mother Nature
may guide me home
i thought
that i understood myself
as i am,
but as I commune with nature,
i finally understand
that i am apart of this ecosystem,
i am only a leaf on her tree.
so when my time comes
lead me to
my great teacher
so that i may thank Her
for nourishing me
all these years
and guiding me back
home.
